Cynthia joined the trust in January 2011. She oversees the trust’s communication channels including its website, multi-media and print materials.
Prior to the trust, Cynthia served as director of communications at the Hawaii Association of Independent Schools, as business manager and admissions director at Honolulu Waldorf School, and in various capacities at two land development companies.
She grew up in Los Angeles “under the Hollywood sign” in a large and boisterous family, greatly influenced by her Ecuadorian mother’s family and roots. She attended Cal Berkeley for two years, took a break to find herself and see the world, and eventually earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
After college, Cynthia visited Hawaiʻi, fell in love with the beauty of the Islands and the warmth of its people, and soon thereafter moved to Oʻahu. She lives happily ever after in Kailua.
A competitive tennis player not too long ago, Cynthia is proud to have been a finalist at the USTA National Championships. She loves to visit remote places on the planet, gather with family, and take long walks on the beach. She has a grown daughter in New York and the best dog ever.
