Alfred “Uncle Junior” Ekau was raised in Nānākuli on the island of Oʻahu and is a proud graduate of James Campbell High School in ʻEwa Beach.
Before working for our Queen, Uncle Junior worked for the Department of Transportation in Hawaiʻi; from there he moved on to assume the position of project manager for ʻŌlelo Public Access Television. He is now a community building facilitator for the Liliʻuokalani Trust and has served in this capacity for 17 years.
There is much that Uncle Junior has learned while in service to the Queen, and the greatest lesson he has acquired is learning to “listen without prejudice.”
Uncle Junior follows three basic rules:
"Do the right thing; do the best you can; and always show others you care.” – Lou Holtz
