Lyle Kaloi grew up on the Leeward Coast of Waiʻanae.
He attended and graduated from Waiʻanae High School as well as the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa where he earned his Bachelorʻs and Masterʻs Degree in Social Work.
Immediately after graduation he worked for the Queen as a Social Worker at the Waiʻanae Unit and has been in this capacity for 25 years.
Among his many talents and interests, he was a haumāna hula under the direction of the late kumu hula Mililani Allen as well as Makalapua Bernard. He is also a lua member under the late lua master, ʻAnakala Likeke Paglinawan.
Lyle has served on the board of directors for the Waiʻanae Coast Comprehensive Health Center and the Waiʻanae Valley Homestead.
Lyleʻs manaʻo that he lives and works by daily is: “Lifeʻs best lessons are learned from the children, families, and communities you serve; they are the best teachers.”
