"Kita" was born and raised on the island of Moloka‘i.
She graduated in 2009 from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo with a degree in Psychology. Shortly after, she moved to Hana and married John, her high school sweetheart. In 2013, while still in Hana, she graduated from the University of Hawaiʻi Myron B. Thompson School of Social Work with an MSW degree.
Nakita and John have a four-and-a-half-year-old son named Kanohokuahiwi and a four-month-old daughter named Nīʻaulani Kapiʻikeawaihone. They took a leap of faith and moved home to Molokaʻi in 2014, and a month later Kita started working for the Trust.
In her spare time, Kita likes to work on and explore entrepreneurial projects, educational endeavors, and spend all the time she can with family and friends.
