Laura Pokipala

Laura Pokipala is on a mission to enjoy the laughter and creativity of children of all ages.

Born and raised in Kaneohe, Oʻahu, she became a Hilo transplant in 1995. She has four children, six grandchildren, and the friendship of many teens and young adults who have shared her home over the years through foster care or independent living programs.

Laura attended the University of Hawaii at Hilo where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology in December 1997 and a Masters of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology in 2010. Between 1997 and 2017, Laura worked at various youth-centered nonprofits in the Hilo community, as well as almost nine years with the Social Security Administration.

Aside from enjoying time at the beach with her family, she makes time to hike, play darts, and sing karaoke with friends.

Laura tries to live by the saying, "Live, Love, Laugh," so that each day can be the best day with God, our Father, at the helm.  Mahalo, Ke Akua!!
