The centennial observance of the passing of Queen Liliʻuokalani took place in front of the Queen's Statue at the State Capitol on Saturday, November 11. Rain and Shine, it was a beautiful and memorable morning. The ceremony included a processional of kāhili and the Royal Guards, pule, hula, and reflections of Liliʻu by LT Chairman Kaulukukui and both Governors Waiheʻe and Ige. At 8:30 a.m., the sounds of oli and pahu were palpable as the neighboring church bells tolled.
A video of the celebration is located below. Mahalo to Lisa Altieri for filming.
