Karyn Castro was born and raised in Mililani, and has deep roots in the choral community in Hawai‘i.
She sang with the Hawai‘i Youth Opera Chorus throughout her childhood, grew up with great choral music at the Lutheran Church of Honolulu, then continued on to receive a Bachelor of Art in Music from the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She became the first administrator for the Windward Choral Society and Kona Choral Society.
She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Arts Management from American University in Washington, D.C., and plans to return to the islands to give back to the community that raised her. She is grateful and honored to be working for the Queen this summer.
She is usually at some rehearsal or other when not at work or working on homework. When she’s not singing or working, she loves to try all the different restaurants and eateries popping up around O‘ahu!
