Lei Ishikawa

Lei Ishikawa was born and raised on the Windward side of Oʻahu.

She started dancing ballet at the young age of four at School of Honolulu Dance Theater and danced in productions like the Hawaiian Nutcracker and Scrooge. At seven she joined Pua Kapele Hula Oʻ Halau and trained in hula, Tahitian, and Maori. Every Saturday, you could find her performing at the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki.

Lei continued her passion for dance through college and got a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Okinawan focus at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. She danced with a wonderful network of contacts at UH Dance at Hilo and Mānoa, as well as with other community partners such as New Hope Oʻahu, Kin Ryosho Jimpu Kai, Ukwanshin Kabudan, Young Okinawans of Hawaii, and many more.

In her spare time, she dances with New Hope Oʻahu’s dance ministry team and teaches creative dance of all styles.
