Morgan joined the trust in 2011 as facilities maintenance technician at the Kona children’s center.
He was promoted in 2015 to associate steward of the trust’s land and property, assisting with the maintenance and upkeep of all trust land, facilities, grounds, offices and equipment; security; natural resource data collection; and trust events. He is an ambassador of Keahuolū’s cultural and natural resources.
Morgan Kuhaupio Leleiwi Sr. was born and raised on the island of Hawaiʻi.
He grew up in the small town of Holualoa and graduated from Konawaena High School in Kealakekua. Morgan served in the National Guard, and then held a variety of jobs in West Hawaiʻi. He worked for 19 years at a hotel in Kona, starting as a dishwasher and working his way up to head chef; he did yard service and landscaping for five years; and he worked construction for six years, advancing from laborer to heavy equipment operator within his first year.
Morgan is the son of James and Peggy Leleiwi; he has two sisters and four brothers. He has been married for 25 years and has a son and four daughters, seven grandchildren (with another on the way), and three great grandchildren.
