The Most Rev. Michael B Curry and The Right Rev. Robert Fitzpatrick, along with national and local staff of The Episcopal Church met at St. Andrew’s Cathedral to learn more about Queen Liliʻuokalani.
Bishop Curry, the 27th and current presiding bishop and primate of The Episcopal Church, took the opportunity to tour Washington Place and ʻIolani Palace while in Hawaiʻi.
LeeAnn Silva, LT vice president, was invited to speak to current native Hawaiian issues as well as the Queen and her holiness of life in caring for both her subjects and the poor. LeeAnn presented Bishop Curry with Hawaiʻi's Story by Hawaiʻi's Queen, and mentioned "he was most excited to read it when I told him the Queen herself wrote it."
"A super fun meeting. These are warm, intelligent people with genuine care about humanity who have a good grasp of current issues. We had a lively, wide-ranging discussion. It is always special when discussing our Queen,” LeeAnn added.
Fun fact: The presiding bishop was invited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to deliver the sermon at their royal wedding in May 2018 at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle in the United Kingdom.
