Robert Ozaki will succeed former Circuit Court Judge Patrick Yim as Trustee of Lili`uokalani Trust (LT) effective February 1, 2021. Mr. Ozaki was nominated by the LT Board of Trustees and today was appointed by the Probate Court, State of Hawaii.
On January 31, 2021, Judge Yim will retire as trustee, and Mr. Ozaki will replace him on the Board of Trustees, ending his own tenure as president and chief executive officer.
Judge Patrick Yim joined the Board of Trustees in August 2002. Robert Ozaki joined LT six months earlier and is the first president and chief executive officer in Trust history.
“Given the critical decade LT is facing, with over $100 million in expenditures for new programs and facilities, the 1,200-acre Keahuolu development on the Big Island, and our expanding portfolio of investments, we were seeking a successor trustee with expertise in these critical areas,” said Board of Trustees in an internal announcement.
“Mr. Ozaki has successfully orchestrated the transformation of LT in both financial and program areas through a culture of innovation and excellence, positioning LT to achieve significant outcomes for our beneficiaries,” noted the Board.
Claire Asam, Chair of the LT Board of Trustees said, “Judge Yim’s tenure on the Board has greatly benefitted the Trust. He has been a strong advocate for impactful programs which transform the lives of our youth for the long term, as well as for our progress in the areas of evaluation, technology, and organizational development. We are grateful for his dedication and loyalty to the Trust.”
