ʻŌpio Entrepreneur Camp: "Designing a Life for Me"

Thirty-nine opio in grades seven and eight took part in an interactive hands-on four-day workshop held on August 31 through September 3 at the KROC Center in Kapolei.  

The LT ʻŌpio Entrepreneurial Camp was a collaboration with the business accelorator Mana Up, who helped create the course curriculum and content.  The camp was designed to encourage ʻōpio (young people) to explore opportunities that could transform their passions and ideas into tangible enterprises with economic and social value.

The camp provided ʻōpio with opportunities to ask, “What am I passionate about?” and to start to look at the lives they might want to design for themselves and to explore potential entrepreneurial endeavors.  Inspired by speakers who shared their own entrepreneurial journey, the ʻōpio were enthusiastic about the possibilities they discovered, created prototypes, and pitched their ideas to the group.

A first step for many of the ʻōpio to look at how they might move forward in the world, the camp provided an opportunity for them to grow and find a pathway that could lead them to success in the future. 

LTʻs entrepreneurship pathway is one of its four program pathways that also include the arts, sports, and ʻāina with leadership integrated into all pathways.
