Cheri Tarutani

Cheri’s career started as a child welfare social worker, where she found purpose and passion for helping the most vulnerable children and families. She was the practice coordinator for the MSW distance education option for the UH School of Social Work and also managed the Hawaiʻi Child Welfare Education Collaboration, a collaboration between the School of Social Work and the DHS Child Welfare Services to train MSW students for a career in public child welfare.

In her private practice, she has served as a court appointed custody evaluator, child welfare mediator, external evaluator, clinical supervisor, provider of EAP services and counseled private clients.  Her professional interest is influenced by her volunteer work as a restorative justice facilitator.  It is her greatest honor to be a part of carrying out the Queen’s wishes.
