Kīpuka Kona

Kamaliʻi in West Hawaiʻi are served by an active team at Kīpuka Kona. Blessed with easy access to the natural and cultural riches of the ahupuaʻa of Keahuolū, kamaliʻi here benefit from a variety of ʻāina-based programs. Kīpuka Kona works closely with Kīpuka Hilo and LT Ranch to ensure complete coverage of Hawaiʻi Island for the Queenʻs beneficiaries.

A snapshot of programs and services offered at Kīpuka Kona include:

2024 Workforce Co-Op Alliance Fall Break Trades Camp: A five (5) day, overnight camp in Keahuolū, Kona, that will serve as a platform to provide kamaliʻi (20 maximum) with an introduction to trade industry experiences, mentorships, and guidance. The project will focus on growing our perspective of a “tradesperson” and portrays a skilled worker that specializes in a particular trade. The project will also provide an overview of high-demand trades in Hawaiʻi.

Butterfly Effect: Butterfly Effect is a Hawaiʻi Island program that focuses on the creative process of filmmaking. Participants will gain the skillsets to become a modern storyteller in the Pacific. Creating kaʻao will connect them to communities, place and time, and most importantly, to one another. The naʻau will reflect a lesson in relationship; whether relationship with self, others, or environment.
