Lili'uokalani Trust Announces New Leadership for 2026

To further its ambitious goal of ending the cycle of poverty, Liliʻuokalani Trust announced today that Mahina Eleneki Hugo will serve as Interim President and Chief Executive Officer. Hugo, a current Trustee of the 116-year-old private operating foundation, will take a leave of absence from her current role as a Trust board member, to guide the organization through its next phase of learning, innovation, and sustainable growth.

“Mahina brings extensive leadership experience as the former Head of School for La Pietra and as Executive Director of Youth Development at Lili’uokalani Trust,” said Robert H. Ozaki, Chair of the Lili’uokalani Trust board. “Her accolades as a National Champion volleyball player, election to the University of Hawaiʻi Circle of Honor, and extensive connections to youth and community groups exemplify her dedication to Hawaiʻi and her community.”

Current President and CEO Tina Keane, who previously served as Chief Financial Officer, will assume the newly created position of Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO). She will be the first CIO in the organization’s 116 year-history and will be responsible for shaping the Trust’s future by developing our investment and real estate assets.

“Over this past year, Tina has guided the Trust with aloha, skill and care” said Board Vice Chair Claire Asam. “Tina brings over 20 years of finance and investment experience, including work on multi-billion-dollar portfolios. Her expansive expertise will be vital in robust resource development to ensure sustainable financial growth. We thank Tina for her willingness to serve the Trust in this new capacity.”

The Board of Trustees will announce its plans for permanent leadership later in 2026.
