Makahiki Games- Fall Break

Liliʻuokalani Center

This one-week Makahiki experience brings ʻōpio into a safe and supportive space where culture comes alive through movement, story, and connection.

Guided by cultural practitioners Hanohano Naehu, Maile Naehu, and Kaina Makua, every day is grounded in ʻike, care, and real practice.

Kamalei dives into traditional games like pāʻuma, uma, kōnane, and ʻulu maika. These are not just games. They build strength, strategy, teamwork, and focus while connecting each moment to history and ʻike kūpuna.

You will move, compete, work as a team, and meet new people while learning Makahiki protocol, hoʻokupu, and the meaning behind this season of peace and celebration. You can try something new and find your people in a consistent environment with caring adults and trusted mentors.

Kamalei grows confidence, leadership, and cultural pride while connecting to community and place through hands-on learning that feels real and alive.
