Makai Keahoulu blue ocean and shoreline

Ryder Souza

Ryder Souza was born and raised in Kona on Hawaiʻi Island. His interest in the outdoors began early and developed through backyard exploration and eventually working with some of the islands’ most unique species and their special habitats.

Ryder graduated from University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo with degrees in environmental studies and geography and has worked with several conservation organizations on Hawaiʻi Island. His affinity for the land is also seen in his hobbies such as fishing, diving, and especially archery hunting. He has built a strong personal connection to ʻāina and enjoys the camaraderie it offers with family and friends.

Ryder looks forward for the continuation of his interests through stewardship of the Queen’s natural and cultural resources.
