Bob was appointed a Liliʻuokalani Trust (LT) trustee effective February 1, 2021 succeeding retired Judge Patrick Yim. Ozaki joined LT mid-2002 and served as president and chief executive officer until his trustee appointment.

Under his leadership, LT started repositioning real estate and financial holdings to reduce risks and capitalize on global opportunities created by a fast-changing world. Assets increased over 220%. LT was recognized as one of Hawaiʻi’s top 10 fastest-growing companies (annual revenue-basis) six times from 2008 to 2019 by Hawaii Business magazine.

A culture of innovation was established through empowerment and experimentation; a digital transformation initiative improved connectivity with all constituents, strengthened program evaluation and back-office systems. Charitable spending increased significantly and services extended to kamaliʻi up to age 26. Clinical services were strengthened. New programs were started in youth development, foster care, equine therapy, and emergency shelter.

Before LT, Bob ran the real estate and agribusiness arm for a diversified corporation publicly traded on the New York and London Stock Exchanges; oversaw a health services company with clinical, insurance, diagnostic, and real estate operations; and cooked at the World Championship Chili contest in the Mojave Desert. He helped start a shelter for troubled youth as a VISTA volunteer, was awarded a Silver Anvil Award for excellence by the Public Relations Society of America, and established the investment function at two major institutions.

Bob was raised in Kuliʻouʻou Valley on Oʻahu beneath the shadow of Kohelepelepe, a mountain which has looked after him all of his life. He spent his childhood playing in the wilderness around Kuapa pond when mullet and crab were plentiful and fish hawks filled the sky.

Bob graduated from ʻIolani School in the pre-coed age. His nomadic journey through college started at Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota and ended at the University of Hawaiʻi after a detour through Reno, Nevada for commercial flight school. He pursued graduate study at Faber College.

His board memberships and advisory affiliations have included: The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii, Thomas Weisel Partners, PBS Hawaii, BlackSand Capital, Honolulu Waldorf School, Hawaii International Film Festival, Shakespeare Ghost Town, Mānoa Valley Theater, Institutional Limited Partners Association, Aloha United Way, Lambda Alpha International, 100th Infantry BN Veterans, Waikīkī Improvement Association, 200 Club, Sierra Club Hawaiʻi Chapter, Urban Land Institute, and the U.S.-Japan Council.

Bob and his wife Becky live in Honolulu. The family includes three children, three grandchildren, and two dogs.
