Kanoa Beair

Sterling “Kanoa” Beair was born and raised in Hawaiʻi and is of Native Hawaiian descent. He has spent his lifetime growing as a healer and a cultural practitioner.

Kanoa is a decorated combat veteran and served as a combat medic in the Iraq war. He spent 10 years in the US Army and has conducted many lifesaving and peace-keeping missions across the globe. Kanoa has since retired from his honorable service and in 2012 he returned to college. He received an associate degree, a bachelor's degree and earned a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy in 2017.

Since then, he has used his education and experience to continue his healing practices with individuals, couples, and families. He has worked at numerous substance-abuse centers where he learned how to integrate Western practice with Hawaiian cultural practice. Kanoa has been trained in Hoʻoponopono by his Kumu Lahela Kruse, Lua by his ʻOlohe Laʻakea Suganuma and most recently, Hoʻopono by Aunty Lynette Paglinawan and the Liliʻuokalani Trust core team. He is grateful to take the lessons that he has learned from his teachers and apply them here at Liliʻuokalani Trust. Being in service to his Queen and the Hawaiian people has been an honor.

Kanoa loves the rural and remote lifestyle on Molokaʻi. He loves farming, fishing, and hunting his own food. Kanoa enjoys living a self-sustainable lifestyle with his wife and children, passing down the lessons taught to him.

Something you may not know about Kanoa: He is a stage actor, well-versed in musical theatre and enjoys creative arts. In his free time, he gives back by sitting as a National Board Director at US Vets, an initiative to end veteran homelessness. He also serves his community by helping those struggling with substance abuse.
