Penn Pantumsinchai

Prior to joining LT, Penn was a lecturer within the University of Hawaiʻi system.

She worked at various campuses teaching Sociology to undergraduates and high school students in the Early College program.

Penn moved to Hawaiʻi in 2010 for graduate school and received her Master’s and Doctorate in Sociology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. Her research interests include social media, criminal justice, consumption, and popular culture.

She is a co-host of an educational sociology podcast called The Social Breakdown (www.thesocialbreakdown.com). The podcast aims to bring the sociological perspective to the general public in a fun, accessible, and informative way.

Penn is originally from Bangkok, Thailand, but has settled down in Honolulu with her husband and rescue dog, Smokey.
