Mindful Forgiveness

Mindful Forgiveness

Mindful Forgiveness with Aloha teaches individuals how to consciously release feelings of hurt, helplessness, resentment, and vengeance while focusing on connecting to one’s thoughts and feelings in the present moment. The process is grounded in the value of Aloha.

Aloha (love) is a way of knowing, being, and doing. A social, emotional, and cultural approach (based on ʻike kūpuna) as a Hawaiian solution to modern-day Hawaiian problems due to disconnection from culture post-colonization (e.g., cultural historical trauma, kaumaha, alienation, involvement with Systems).

The intended outcome is that by the end of the program, ʻōpio will begin to have awareness about what causes them distress and be able to implement mindfulness skills to cope in healthy ways in stressful situations. To also live aloha for themselves and for others, for a healthy release of heavy grievances that may be weighing them down, preventing healing and growth.
