Liliʻuokalani Center Seeks New Talent to Lead the World’s Largest Center for Indigenous Children 2024-05-24 Liliʻuokalani Center Seeks New Talent to Lead the World’s Largest Center for Indigenous ChildrenLiliʻuokalani Trust seeks new talent to fill positions at Liliʻuokalani Center (LC), slated to open in 2025 as the world’s largest center for indigenous children. Approximately 11 positions for LC will become available between July and October, followed by four more positions through December. LC is under construction in urban Honolulu at the corner of Ward Avenue and King Street. The 97,000-square-foot building will encompass sports facilities, performing arts venues, labs for technological innovations, and many other spaces for children to learn and thrive. The center will be filled with Teammates who are experts in youth-focused arts, sports, holistic wellbeing, STEM, entrepreneurship, Hawaiian culture, and other pathways. These pathways are central to the Trust’s mission to provide opportunities to Hawaiian children, especially those from economically challenged backgrounds.Once the center opens in the summer of 2025, LC will be a premier place of employment, filled with Teammates who are passionate about supporting indigenous communities and nurturing the next generation of Native Hawaiians, says Agnes Okuma, Manager of People Operations for the Trust. “It will be a wonderful opportunity to merge professional fulfillment with cultural immersion and community impact,” she adds.Ideally, job candidates will reflect the Trust’s values, and appreciate the legacy and aloha of Queen Liliʻuokalani, who executed her Deed of Trust in 1909. Teammates at the Trust strive for cultural sensitivity, interpersonal connection, a team mindset, adaptability, humility, and community engagement. As of June 2024, the Trust employed more than 200 culturally diverse Teammates on Kauaʻi, Oʻahu, Molokai, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island. Their profiles can be found at onipaa.org/people.Maria Ragland, the Trust’s Director of Talent, Acquisition and Compensation, says that as the Queen’s organization continues to grow — not only at LC but across the pae ʻāina — other positions at the Trust will become available in operations, administration, programs, and support teams. “We can expect to see opportunities open in all our kīpuka,” she says.Candidates are invited to apply at onipaa.org/careers, and regularly visit the site as positions are announced this year. Please visit onipaa.org/careers to learn more.
